My story

During my career as an antique dealer in Paris, I slowly fell in love with French workwear dyed with indigo and garance roots. That is how I first discovered the existence of natural dyes.

During a trip to Jaipur, where I originally planned to develop my own designs using woodblock printing, I discovered the devastating impact of chemical dyes being discharged into rivers surrounded by farmers’ land. It was a turning point for me.

Around the same time, I developed an autoimmune disease, which led me to question absolutely everything around me, from where I was born and living (Paris), to what I was eating, and everything that would come into contact with my skin.

In 2019, I decided to learn the entire plants dyeing process. I went back and forth driving my little van between Brittany and Paris to learn from the dyeing master Michel Garcia.

Then I moved to the countryside, about an hour from Paris, living in a small cabin in the forest while renting an old fire station owned by the Château de Courances. That time allowed me to focus entirely on my practice while also working on restoring my health, Nonchalance was born.

In 2022, Les Éditions Ulmer gave me the opportunity to write a book, Teindre avec les plantes, sharing the art of dyeing with wild plants that grow across the French landscape throughout the seasons.

After this incredible adventure of becoming an author, I decided to move to Bali in Indonesia, to live even closer to nature and collaborate with artisans who use ancestral dyeing techniques and the rich diversity of endemic plants.

Nonchalance Paris Bali became a very intimate textile brand blending the properties of luxurious mulberry silk with the precious colors of Bali’s flora.

Here we are in 2026, making zero compromise on the quality of our textiles, the planet, and the wellbeing of the people who work with us. Using 0 chemicals and working with small family owned workshops.

I hope our pieces will bring a little bit of nature, softness and beauty to your daily life.

Thank you for being here.
